Catherine Lebrun holds a master’s degree in sciences (Biochemistry) from the University of Strasbourg (1992), a master’s degree in quality, safety and environment management (2001) and a DESS in Applied Microbiology from the Pharmaceutical University of Strasbourg (1993). She began her career in the pharmaceutical industry in 1994 as a researcher in the R & D laboratory of a large food company. Later she was Head of the microbiological quality control laboratory for several years, responsible for quality control and batch release, before working in quality, safety and environment management of a large pharmaceutical company.

In 2001, she joined the EDQM as a Scientific Programme Manager in the European Pharmacopeia Department, supporting the work of Expert Groups in the area of biologicals, including Groups 15 and 15V (Vaccines and sera for human and veterinary use). She has a large experience at the EDQM as a Scientific Programmed Manager to various groups of experts (human blood and blood products, human and veterinary sera and vaccines, working parties for Botulinum toxin, Bovine serum etc).
