Dr. Florian Zielecki is a Viral Safety Scientific Manager with more than 12 years of experience in virology, viral safety, and vaccine manufacturing. He conducted his PhD at the Robert Koch Institute in Berlin studying highly pathogenic H5N1 influenza viruses, followed by four years of postdoctoral research at the Institute of virology of the Philipps University Marburg investigating the innate immune response to highly pathogenic viruses under BLS4 conditions.

Back in 2014 Dr. Zielecki joined the pharmaceutical industry, first at Novartis and since 2016 at GSK, where he has held scientific and leadership positions in MSAT Process Science leading process characterization, manufacturing support, and lifecycle management activities in small scale format for cell culture based viral vaccines.

Since 2018 he has joined the global viral safety team. In his current role as Viral Safety Scientific Manager, Dr. Zielecki provides scientific leadership in viral safety, with a particular focus on viral risk assessment, virus clearance of animal derived raw materials, and regulatory compliance for biopharmaceutical products.
