Marc ELOIT is a veterinarian specializing in infectious diseases and a former Professor of Virology at the National Veterinary School of Alfort. He previously served as Director of the Virology Unit before going on to lead the Pathogen Discovery Laboratory at the Institut Pasteur until 2023. His academic research has focused on the identification of novel or unexpected viruses in patients, as well as on viruses circulating at the human–wildlife interface. For 20 years, he was a member of the Virus Safety Committee of the French Medicines Agency. In 2010, he founded PathoQuest, a spin-off from the Institut Pasteur dedicated to testing biological products using next-generation sequencing (NGS). He currently serves as a scientific adviser to the company.
